Plenty of hill and forest walks, fishing cycling or just relax taking in the breathtaking Scenery.
Tain also hosts an first class 18 hole links golf course (designed by Old Tom Morris) for any enthusiast to enjoy. situated on the shores of the Dornoch Firth with breath taking views.

We have our Glenmorangie Whisky Distillery within walking distance, where visitors can book a guided tour and sample a wee dram, or browse the shop on site. Both Tain an Anta Pottery is well worth a visit, watching the potters at work and being able to browse and purchase products from the well stocked shop, situated off the A9.
Glasstorm Studio is just down from the Picture Gallery in Tain - viewing the glassblowing is fascinating to watch, they create a wide range of artwork and functional glassware.
Other Golf Courses just a short drive from Tain are Royal Dornoch, Golspie, Brora, and Tarbat Ness Golf Club at Portmahomack.
Dornoch also has a spectacular Cathedral interesting antique shops and a beautiful sandy beach to take a stroll.
Dunrobin Castle by Golspie is a short drive away is well worth a visit with lovely gardens, Falconry display taking place in the grounds during March/October. Also there are guided tours of the castle.
Falls of shin a little further north is a wonderful day out for all the family with dramatic waterfalls where you can watch the salmon leap. Forest walks and picnic area. It also hosts a Harrods shop for your souvenirs and excellent restaurant.
